What makes Georgia unique? Georgia has acted as a "mother" to many foster pups over the last two years. She even let's them try to nurse on her.

Rollin’ in the leaves!

Rescue Story: Georgia was rescued from a horrible dog hording situation. She had a rough first 5 years of life and has some scarring from being involved in dog fights. I went to our local Animal Shelter to rescue a dog. I went in with my kids and all of us were initially looking at the young small dogs. My son has Autism and wasn't fond of our meet and greets with the jumpy energetic pups and wasn't a fan of their barking. After meeting multiple dogs that didn't mesh well with our family I asked one of the workers if they had any calm couch potatoes needing a home. She asked if we were open to adopting a Pit Bull. I won't lie we were pretty nervous as you only hear such awful stories. But I trusted her and felt it couldn't hurt to meet one. She brought out Georgia a 5 year old Brindle Pit Mix. Georgia immediately went over to my kids calmly and rolled over for belly rubs. After that she came over to me and gave me kisses. I was sold this was meant to be our dog. The only problem was because of her past she was deemed "not adoptable" by the shelter. We sat there for what seemed like two hours to speak to the right people and make this rescue happen. Thankfully, after meeting our family and knowing she was going to be the only dog in the home they agreed. After a year & a half and seeing how amazing and sweet our baby was we added another dog to our family. A rescue Shih tzu and these two are the best of friends. We've also fostered several puppies and Georgia is the best mom to them all.

Georgia heading home!!

What is your favorite pastime as a family? Georgia's preference is curling up on the couch and watching Lady and the Tramp

What is life like since you rescued Georgia? She's always happy. You can tell she knows how good life is and she spoils us all with smiles and kisses. She has certainly made our family feel complete.

Photographers Note: Imagine my surprise when this sweet girl gets out of her family’s car in a hat and scarf set complete with a lovely pearl collar. She was ready to get her picture taken! Georgia was such a good girl until she decided she was done and started trotting down the path towards home. (we met in a wooded park area behind their house). She knew exactly how to get there and was heading for the couch! I love how much this girl transformed in her loving home. Going from needing to be an only dog, to then stepping up as sister & BFF to WallE, all the way to being a foster mama to so many foster pups; including Omni one of our past volunteers. Makes me so happy to see a pup go from a horrible situation to one where they are loved and a cherished member of the family.
