Volunteer with Shine A Light ATL

If you live in the Atlanta area and want to be a part of the Shine A Light ATL initiative by sharing your story with the world. Please send an email to: shineliteATL@gmail.com

The following are the key qualifications for the project:

  • Your pit bull or pit mix must be a rescue. This does not mean that your dog has to come from a formal rescue organization. It could be a stray off the street or given up by someone who was not fit to own them.

  • Your dog must be comfortable with strangers and it's helpful if they are food driven.

  • You need to live within an hour of the city of Atlanta or be willing to come to a central location. We do schedule locations in other states on occasion. Check Facebook/Instagram for calls out for volunteers when those trips are being planned.

  • I will ask that a photo release be signed, as these photos will be shared on the web, with no restrictions to access the website.

If you live outside of Atlanta & would like for Shine A Light to come to your city/state, please send an email to shineliteATL@gmail.com and we can discuss what is needed in order to make that happen.

COVID- 19 Safety Guidelines

The Following Guidelines are to ensure that all of our human volunteers and the photographer are safe and healthy during the current pandemic. At any point and time related to public safety Shine a Light can halt photo shoot activity.

Photographer is Fully Vaccinated as of May 12th, 2021.

People Guidelines:

  • If volunteers are experiencing any symptoms that could be related to Covid-19 for up to 14 days prior to their scheduled photo shoot, they must notify Shine A Light to reschedule. In order to reschedule they must be clear of any symptoms for a full week. Same rules apply to the photographer. Of course, if either photographer or volunteers test positive for Covid-19, rescheduling after a week of no symptoms will need to occur.

  • If volunteers are comfortable sharing their vaccinated status, please do so.

  • No contact greetings or departures, a wave will do!

  • In general, the photographer will maintain distance from the human volunteers as much as possible.

Location Guidelines:

  • If the volunteers choose a public space/park for their location, then photo shoot times will need to be in the morning before those locations get too crowded.

  • If the volunteers choose their backyard or a home space, it will need to be outside and the photographer will need to be able to access it without having to go through the house.

If at any time the volunteer or the photographer is not comfortable with the interactions during the photo shoot, they may end the photo shoot at that time.
