What makes Lincoln unique? Lincoln has never met a stranger! He loves meeting new humans and dogs. Honestly, social settings are his element. Dog parks, daycare, beaches, restaurants, you name it. He loves the attention he gets but knows how to read a room and gives others space if needed.

Joyful Boy!

Rescue Story: As many people did in 2020, I was avid in search of adding a dog to my little pet family. I felt like I was at the right point in my life to be able to raise a puppy, but due to the high demand of puppies at the time, I was open to any aged dog that seemed to catch my eye. I was checking the Petfinder app several times a day for 4 months before I saw a post made by The W-Underdogs. They had only had the listing up for 30 minutes before I applied, so I was crossing my fingers I’d get a call back. Within an hour, I had my interview, and approval to adopt a puppy from the litter of 12 in the following week. I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to meet the pups. Mom had been rescued from a drug dealer who pursued breeding as a side hustle, and thankfully gave birth while in rescue. This story may sound familiar because it is! Sir, a Shine a Light Alum from April 2021, is from the same litter. When meeting the puppies, something about Lincoln kept sticking out to me from the rest of the litter. I couldn’t figure out if it was how he played, how responsive he was, or maybe it was just fate. He’s been my special little boy ever since!

Family!!

What is your favorite pastime as a family? Trips to the beach! Before we were in Tampa, Lincoln was not inclined to play with water at all, but after some coaxing, he has become quite the water-lover. He loves playing fetch on the shore and swimming out in the water. Now that we’re back in Atlanta, I had to get him a kiddie pool to keep that side of him pleased.

What is life like since you rescued Lincoln? I travel for work, but had stopped for some time to raise Lincoln. I recently started traveling again now that he’s older, and he’s seeing more of the world than I would have predicted! We were in Tampa, FL for the summer, and will be heading to Brooklyn, NY next. From country boy, to beach bum, to city slicker, he’s enjoying learning about the world around him. Atlanta will always be our home base, and he has quite a group of friends here. It’s great to have him around with me while I’m away on contract. He’s allowed me to be more social in new places, and I love exposing him to new experiences.

Photographers Notes: The first word I thought of when I saw Lincoln was HUNK! What an absolutely gorgeous boy, his markings are so unique with the mix of solid and tan merle spots, then you add those blue eyes! Course after the initial swoon, you realize what a big goofball and love bug he is and then on top of that he is so well trained for a 1 year old; smarts must run in the family. As Jasmine mentioned, Lincoln’s brother Sir was featured back in April of this year. It’s always fun to meet litter mates and see the similarities and the differences. They definitely both have that pibble smile and the desire to please their family.

I do need to add, that so many people will say they don’t want to rescue because they want a puppy. There are an abundance of puppies in rescue. We have featured many here, who were rescued as puppies. Many were born in rescue…..wanting a puppy is never an excuse not to consider rescue. (off my soap box)
